Born and raised in Toronto, Dana was weaned on the music of folk legends such as Leadbelly, Woody & Arlo Guthrie and Pete Seeger. Her original music goes beyond grassroots. With soaring guitar arrangements and catchy melodies, the sound is a mix of blues and country with strains of world beat, creating a vivid backdrop for LaCroix's evocative lyrics. She has drawn comparisons to folk-pop artists Eva Cassidy and Bonnie Raitt.
